With autumn fast approaching, perhaps it’s time to think about updating our wardrobes to cope with the changing weather and give our self image a lift. The key points this year are quality over quantity; and textures rather than patterns. Chose a few good pieces to give you an immediate boost and carry you through to spring. As usual I have selected a few of the season’s trends which I hope will inspire.

Enjoy a retro-feel jacket or coat in a pea or duffel style. Invest in a high quality wool or cashmere mix. This can offer the versatility to wear over a suit to work or to smarten up your casual weekend style.

Fur is a major trend this season but a little goes a long way. Look out for fur detailing in a coat or gloves. Alternatively, keep really warm with a high impact luxurious fur hat. Great for bitter urban days, or take it straight to the slopes.

Semi-chunky knitwear, either a jumper or a cardigan, is perfect for this time of year. Choose a close-fitting cut in an autumn tone with some texture rather than a pattern.

Comfortable, warm and weather-resistant: heavy and rugged for casual comfort and flair; lighter boots or high-ankle shoes offer winter protection with a suit or smarter trousers.
